Arnold Schwarzenegger - History of One Bodybuilder's American Dream

By the way, as I write this in June of 2007, the Terminator...er...Mr. Governor of California, erstwhile "Conan the Barbarian", is turning 60 next month! I've never really looked into Arnold's history before, but it fascinates me. It's not so much WHAT has happened to Arnold Schwarzenegger over the last 60 years, as HOW it happened. You see, to me, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the kid from Austria (I'm two years older than him, so he's a kid), typifies the term "American Dream". He also demonstrates all those things that motivational specialists talk about. He's almost a living textbook for goal setting, motivation, and achievement.

Despite the title of this article, I don't really expect to go into the history of Arnold Schwarzenegger as much as the dream. However, the way things turned out, the history of Arnold Schwarzenegger and the history of America are now tied together. It all started with a dream...and part of it was an American dream.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947, in the small Austrian town of Thal to parents named Gustav and Aurelia. Had he not had a dream, he might have followed in Gustav's footsteps and eventually become the chief of police in Graz, Austria. Fortunately, he was encouraged by his father, Gustav, to participate in sports. His older brother, Meinhard, provided a built in playmate and role model. Actually, things could have turned out differently, as Meinhard was more naturally athletic than Arnold. However, it was Arnold who had the dream, and that's what made everything else happen.

At one point in his teen years, you probably would not have been able to picture the future Commando, John Matrix, in the six foot tall, 150 pound Austrian kid. On the other hand, his commando raid on the gym at Graz's soccer stadium, where he and his friends broke windows so that they could get in and work out, might have been a clue. In movies like Predator and Commando, he endured suffering and hardship, but he started getting his taste of that when he had to exercise in a gym sometimes so cold that he still recalls his hands sticking to the chinning bar.

It takes a lot of dedication to a dream for a kid from the sticks of Austria to stay with a dream of becoming the world's best bodybuilder...and an actor...and the Governor of California...but he did.

As with many successful lives, a lot of luck figured into Arnold's success, but through it all runs a common thread. He knew what he wanted, and he was willing to do what was necessary to get it. In another commando-like move, the 20 year-old tank driver even deserted from the Austrian army for a few days and slipped into Germany so that he could compete in, and win, the Junior Mr. Europe event in Stuttgart. Oh, by the way; upon his return to Austria, he was caught and spent 7 days in jail, but when the word of his win got around, he became a hero to the Austrian army and was held up as a model of courage and tenacity.

In an interview in 2006, Tom Venuto, natural bodybuilder, fitness coach, author of "Burn the Fat. Feed the Muscle", and co-author of "Fit Over 40", was asked what he thought was "the one thing most needed to change a person's lifestyle and improve their health."

His response?

"A committed decision to reach a predetermined specific goal, combined with burning desire, followed by immediate, massive action repeated consistently for as long as it takes until your goal is reached."

Wow!

Looks like the mantra that Arnold Schwarzenegger might have chanted on his way to becoming Mr. Olympia (7 times), a Hollywood actor (43 movies), the husband of Maria Shriver (Kennedys - lots of 'em), and current occupant of the California Governor's mansion, doesn't it?

Well, if you could look at the Arnold Schwarzenegger history story with glasses that allowed you to see behind the scenes, you would regularly see one "predetermined specific goal, combined with a burning desire" after another. You would see a man who realized that to reach each goal, he would have to take "immediate, massive action repeated consistently for as long as it takes" to reach each goal.

Sounds like perseverance is a major issue of success once you have set your goal!

Even good ol' P. T. Barnum, another, slightly different proponent of the American Dream, and perhaps best known for the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus, had this to say in his classic essay, "The Art of Money Getting or Golden Rules for Making Money":

"How many have almost reached the goal of their ambition, but, losing faith in themselves, have relaxed their energies, and the golden prize has been lost forever."

Time and again, people like Napoleon Hill, author of "Think and Grow Rich", have extolled the virtue of being willing to stick to the path through thick and thin, once you know what the goal is.

It's not dates and events that make up the Arnold Schwarzenegger history, or his version of the American dream. It has been his willingness to pursue his dreams and goals through all sorts of obstacles, and in spite of a multitude of naysayers, that has taken him to where he sits today. It is this willingness to pursue the American dream wholeheartedly that in earlier eras was the subject of so many fictional and non-fictional books alike.

Today, there is a vast market in self-help and self-improvement products. All sorts of programs and processes are offered for consideration of those wanting a piece of the American Dream. However, again and again, once the overlay of words and technique is stripped away, the setting of goals, and the constant, unrelenting striving to achieve those goals is at the heart of almost all true success stories.

Maybe it takes a one-time hick from a small town in Austria to remind us of what we keep saying we have, or want, or wish was still available to an ordinary person in America. Maybe, as at least one article has stated, "Arnold Schwarzenegger is the definition of the American Dream."

Belajar Dari Arnold Schwarzenegger

Belajar Dari Arnold Schwarzenegger

Siapa yang tak kenal Arnold Schwarzenegger? , bintang film terkenal, salah satu bintang film dengan honor terbesar.
Siapa yang tak tahu Film ¡°Comando¡±, ¡°Terminator¡±?, dan banyak lagi film Box Office lainnya.

Siapa
kontes serupa.

Setelah melampaui capaian prestasi atlet lain di
cabang binaraga, ¡±ia kehilangan tantangan¡±, Ia pun mencari bidang lain
dimana ia masih dapat mengunakan bakatnya. Latihan-latihan binaraga

Ia
pun menulis autobiografinya, Arnold : The Education of Builder, yang
laris dipasaran, kemudian ia menulis buku tentang binaraga untuk kaum
perempuan, petunjuk para perempuan tentang menggunakan latihan beban
dan untuk memperoleh tubuh yang sehat.

Cita-sita berikutnya

Ia

Note:
Best Regards,
Sumirat

“It Ain’t How Hard You Hit…It’s How Hard You Can Get Hit and Keep Moving Forward”

It was about 22 years ago when I watched my first ROCKY movie (Rocky III) and it really inspired me to get up from defeat (after failing my exams) and to train hard to become a winner in life.

Today, 22 years later, I find myself being inspired once again by Sylvestor Stallone’s latest Rocky Movie (Rocky Balboa- part 6). In this latest movie, Rocky is aged 60+ and retired from boxing. One day, Rocky decides to come out of retirement and to get back into the ring. He feels the need to fight because of emotional issues that he needs to resolve within himself. Naturally, he is criticized and made fun of because he is fighting opponents half his age.

His son (a corporate executive in his 30s) is totally against the idea. His career is going nowhere and he blames his father for casting a big shadow over him. His friends make fun of him because of who his father is.

This is where the 60-year old Rocky gives his son a heart-to-heart reprimand about how he needs to stop blaming and take charge of his life. A saddened Rocky says he remembers when his son could fit in the palm of his hand.

He says that he saw great potential in him and when he first started off in life, he did great. However,at some point, he changed. He lost his way and started blaming other things and people for his own misfortune. Telling him:

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.

But it ain’t about how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. . It’s How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.

Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not point fingers and blame other people. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!”

This movie had a huge impact on me just like the first few Rocky movies did because what was said was so true in my own life. ” Its not how hard you hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

I have found that in my life, I have met so many people who were much smarter, talented and luckier than me. What made me more successful at the end of the day was my ability to get hit again and again and to keep moving forward. I never gave up. However, I know of many friends who got hit hard by life and could never find the courage to get up again. Instead, they quit dreaming and accepted a mediocre life.

There were many times in my life when I did get hit hard and felt that I had problems I could never solve. There were times when I felt that life was unfair and too painful to live. What kept me going forward was that I knew that no matter how bad, every problem will not last forever. Every recession will end. Dawn always breaks after the darkest hour. It was this belief that allowed me to keep getting up.

• When I got expelled from school at age 9, I kept moving forward
• When my parents split up when I was aged 13, I kept moving forward
• When my first girlfriend dumped me just before my major exams (and I was subsequently dumped by 2 other girls), I kept moving forward
• When everyone looked down on me because I got poor grades in school, I kept moving forward
• When my interior design business went bankrupt (Losing me $250,000), I kept moving forward
• When I lost over $300,000 in the stock market as an early amateur investor, I kept moving forward
• When my first book, ‘I Am Gifted, So Are You!’ was rejected by over 9 publishers, I kept moving forward
• When only 1 person signed up for my first Patterns of Excellence program 7.5 years ago, and everyone thought that my company would never make it, I kept moving forward
• When I lost all the money I made from my event management business because I was cheated by someone I trusted, I kept moving forward

Whenever we see people achieve great things, it is easy to think that they had less problems and less obstacles than we have. That their brilliance, luck or talent gave them super human abilities to sail through life easily. That everything always goes according to plan.

I can tell you from experience that things NEVER EVER always go according to plan. 80% of the goals you set and plans you make will never go the way you want. Things will screw up and obstacles will appear that will knock you down. Its all part of the game of life.

So, the greater the success you want in life, the bigger the hits you got to be willing to take. There is a price for everything. A Suzuki costs $30,000 and a ferrari costs $1m (at least in Singapore).

Success too has a price. The price is massive rejection, frustration, and hardwork, People never succeed either because they thought that success comes easy or because they are not willing to pay the price!

Earn - Save - Spend, Kebiasaan Orang Kaya

Posted by: "Badroni Yuzirman"

Sumber web roniyuzirman. com 12 Desember 2006

Semoga bermanfaat.

------------ --------- --------- -----

Kebiasaan akan membentuk karakter kita. Setuju? Harus setuju. Soalnya
kata-kata ini saya dapat dari Stephen Covey. Kalau nggak setuju, silakan
protes ke Covey.

Saya nggak mau ngomongin soal Stephen Covey. Justru saya mau sharing
.

Straight to the

Setelah earn, langsung spend
untuk kebutuhan sehari-harinya. Tidak ada peluang baginya untuk investasi
atau pun saving. Mereka hidup untuk survival aja. Tidak punya pilihan.

Golongan menengah, seperti kebanyakan kita punya kebiasaan earn - spend -
save.

As simple as that. Makanya orang kaya

Setuju?

Dos and Don'ts For Using Credit Cards

By Jeslyn Jessy

Nowadays, credit cards have become part of our life. In the point of view of most people, these cards are symbols of wealth. However, many of them do not actually know how to use their cards wisely. It is indeed important to learn the rules of the credit card game before you get burnt.

Below are some key guidelines which promote good spending habits to the credit card users. Let's see what are the dos and don'ts the holders must take note in order to avoid themselves from being trapped by deep debts.

• Control yourself from using the card frequently. You should maintain a good credit score with the bank or credit card companies. This can be done by staying within 30% of your credit limit given. Set a fixed amount and make sure you do not charge your expenses exceeding the amount.

• Only swap your card when you purchase things or pay for services that you really in need. You can use the card when it is really urgent or you do not want to bring so much of cash in hand for security purpose.

• Always make your card payment promptly once you receive the bank statement. Put a reminder so that you always keep in mind the due date of making payment. This is important to avoid yourself from incurring high interest rate

• NEVER consider a credit card as cash in hand. In fact, it is not! Don't use it to purchase luxurious products which you can't afford to pay in cash. Bear in mind NO CASH ADVANCE TRANSACTION should be made.

• NEVER make minimum payment each month after getting the statement. It is really a big mistake if you do that. The lesser you pay for your card, the more debt you accumulate every month. It also increases the amount of interest and financial charge you need to bear. What you should do is to pay as much outstanding as you can to clear the debt faster in order to save cost.

Credit cards are ideal for people who have "good credit" and have ability to pay back promptly. These cards are meant to provide convenience to you but not to become your burden in life.

7 Kesalahan Terbesar Dalam Menggunakan Kartu Kredit

7 Kesalahan Terbesar Dalam Menggunakan Kartu Kredit
Posted by: "miftachul choiri"

Sumber: web janganseraka h.com/2009/ 03/31/7-kesalaha n-terbesar- dalam-menggunaka n-kartu-kredit/

============ ========= ========= =========

Jadi apa saja 7
kesalahan terbesar itu?

—–oOo—–

KESALAHAN no 1 : Tidak melunasi seluruh tagihan kartu kredit

membayar sejumlah “pembayaran minimum”.

Lunasi seluruh tagihan kartu kredit anda!!!

KESALAHAN no 2 : Menganggap kartu kredit sebagai kartu debit (ATM)

KESALAHAN no 3 : Menggunakan kartu kredit untuk membayar hutang

terjadi ketika kesalahan no.2 dan kesalahan no.3 ‘dikombinasikan’ .

KESALAHAN no 4 : Tidak disiplin mengontrol penggunaan Kartu Kredit dan
tagihannya

KESALAHAN no 5 : Terlalu banyak memiliki Kartu Kredit

bayar.

Beberapa financial planner menyarankan untuk memiliki Kartu Kredit
maksimal 3 saja. Kalau lebih dari itu, mungkin mulai bisa
mempertimbangkan untuk menggunting sisanya.

KESALAHAN no 6 : Menganggap Kartu Kredit sebagai ‘Uang Tambahan’

Meskipun kedengarannya sulit dipercaya, tetapi tidak sedikit orang
yang menganggap Kartu Kredit sebagai Uang Tambahan. Ketika permohonan
kartu kreditnya disetujui, mereka pun kegirangan seperti mendapatkan
‘durian runtuh’.

Kartu kredit bukanlah ‘berkah’, ‘rezeki’ ataupun ‘durian runtuh’.

memakai kartu kredit, kita kenakan charge X %’.

9 Attitudes of Highly Creative People

Creativity-1

Yesterday I looked at 5 methods for being creative. Today I’d like to look at some attitudes to build into your approach if you want to be a more creative person:

1. Curiosity

I’ve written previously on the topic of curiosity because I’m convinced that it is an essential skill to build as a blogger. Learning to ask ‘why’, ‘what if’ and ‘I wonder…’ are great questions to build into your life if you want to be a more creative person.

2. Seeing Problems as Interesting and Acceptable

One of the problems of the Western mindset is that we often see problems or obstacles in life as unacceptable parts of life. We avoid pain or suppress it when it comes and in doing so don’t often see and feel symptoms that are there to tell us something important. Creative people see problems as a natural and normal part of life - in fact they often have a fascination with problems and are drawn to them.

3. Confronting Challenge

Many of the most creative ideas through out history have come from people facing a challenge or crisis and rather than running from it asking ‘how can I overcome this’?

4. Constructive Discontent

Creative people often have an acute awareness of what’s wrong with the world around them - however they are constructive about this awareness and won’t allow themselves to get bogged down in grumbling about it - they take their discontent and let it be a motivation to doing something constructive.

MENJUAL SISIR PADA BIKSU

Pertanyaan :

Apa jawaban anda ?

a) Tidak mungkin, itu mustahil
b) Gile

Cerita : MENJUAL SISIR PADA BIKSU

(Mr. A, Mr. B, Mr. C)

Pimpinan pewawancara memberi tugas :

Setelah 10 hari, mereka memberikan laporan.

Pimpinan pewawancara bertanya pada Mr. A :
"Berapa banyak yang sudah anda jual?"
Mr. A menjawab: "Hanya SATU."
Si pewawancara bertanya lagi : "Bagaimana caranya anda menjual?"
Mr. A menjawab:

Semoga sukses !"
